[Review] Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Three words: Captivating, thrilling, compelling. Well honestly, there are too many words describe how well done this book is. The complexity of the plot would have been tricky for any author but this book is stunning.

Six of Crows is told in 5 perspectives with 6 main characters. The plot is complex but the pacing is perfect.

I was actually worried about starting this series because I did not read the Grisha Trilogy. I thought I would get lost in the terminology and the world building but Leigh Bardugo did a fantastic job of defining the world for those who have not read the Grisha Trilogy. There is a mention of the Grisha War, I assume thats what the Grisha Trilogy is about, but it does not distract from the overall plot of the novel. The plot, oh my, the plot. I don't know where to begin honestly. It's a heist in short. Kaz's crew has to go to a heavy fortified prison and rescue a scientist who holds the key to the future of the Grisha world. Every detail and action was well crafted and well thought out.

The characters are so badass and each have their own unique personality, purpose, and vengeance. Kaz is the leader of the group with a dark past which haunts him each day. Inej, with her newly found freedom, seeks her purpose in the world by joining the Dregs. Jesper is a sharp shooter tied with his wit which causes him to be in undesirable situations. Nina, a Heartrender, tries to correct her past. Matthias, a runaway convict, tries to seek revenge from the woman of his past. Wylan seeks acceptance where he will least receives it and tries to find his own path without the direction of others. There are flashbacks for each character so the readers can gain more insight of each character and what fuels their vengeance. Each character is unique and a gift.

This book is dark.

BUT I can't wait for Crooked Kingdom. This series is very promising and lives up to the hype.
