Peace. Love. Order. Dome. That’s the motto that the Order has given the residents of Dome 1618 to live by. Natalia Greyes is a resident of Dome 1618, a covered city protected from the deadly radiation that has poisoned the world outside for four generations. Nat never questioned the Order, until one day she sees a stranger on the outside of the dome. Now Nat wants answers. Is there life outside the dome and if so, what has the Order been hiding from everyone?

Overall I enjoyed There Once Were Stars. I love the idea of a worldwide infection that causes many disasters; it gives like a total apocalyptic feel to it. On top of it, this book had zombies, something I wish that was written more in YA. I just like zombies,

I had some trouble relating to Nat though. I understand her actions and her thoughts but I couldn’t connect to them. Of course she wants to find the truth to what her world is really about but I felt off about it the whole time. Though the side characters were relatable. There is a love triangle. I either love it or hate it. But this one I’m on the fence but it was distracting from the overall plot.

I liked the world building. It was interesting to see how the Dome worked and how the government oversaw the citizens. The government was probably the most interesting aspect of this book.

There Once Were Stars is enjoyable but I would have loved it if it didn’t lacked some character growth and didn’t have as much as an instal-love.

I would give this book 3 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
