[Book Tour] Station Fosaan by Dee Garretson

Title: STATION FOSAAN
Author: Dee Garretson
Pub. Date: February 14, 2017
Publisher: Month9Books
Format: Paperback, eBook
Pages: 300

Scientists and their families stationed on the remote planet of Fosaan were promised a tropical vacation-like experience. But Fosaan, devastated from an apocalyptic event nearly three-hundred years ago, is full of lethal predators and dangerous terrain.
Earthers are forbidden to go beyond the safety zone of their settlement and must not engage the remaining reclusive Fosaanians, native to the planet. Sixteen-year-old Quinn Neen is about to do both of those things.
During an unsanctioned exploration of the planet, Quinn discovers a beautiful Fosaanian girl named Mira stealing food from his family’s living unit. But before he can convince her to show him around, scientists are taken captive, leaving Quinn and the other young Earthers at the mercy of space raiders.
Quinn must go from renegade to leader and convince Mira to become an ally in a fight against an enemy whose very existence threatens their lives and the future of Earthers stuck on Fosaan and at home.
STATION FOSAAN is THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND meets STAR TREK: THE WRATH OF KHAN.

Review:
This book is completely different from what I normally read, completely different. But I have to say that I am not disappointed. A sci-fi world set in an alternate world which is appropriate for YA audiences.

I'm surprised at the acceptance Quinn had when meeting Mira. All things considering that Mira and her kind were not welcomed, it was interesting to see two major characters accept each other. Quinn wants to prove his worth to his grandfather in creating a guide that keeps track of every creature in Fosaan. He meets Mira and hopes that she will teach him all to know about Fosaan.

But the conflict quickly arises when communication starts failing and mysterious things start to happen. Then conflict only increases when the leading scientists are taken, leaving Mira, Queen and other young Earthers to set things write.

Overall I enjoyed Station Fosaan. The beginning was a bit slow but it quickly picked up when conflict arises. I wish Mira's character was more developed and the minor characters were given more purpose. But the plot was engaging and the possibility of book 2 is there.

Overall I would give Station Fosaan 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
