Uncovering hidden secrets can sometimes kill you . . . or worse, steal your soul.

Anastasia Tate has a secret. She can feel the emotions of others through their life energy auras. Not a welcome gift for a teenager. Especially when a sinister presence begins stalking her.

Viktor Castle also has a secret. He’s tasked with protecting humanity yet cursed by an ancient evil to destroy it.

After Viktor saves Ana’s life, her abilities grow stronger. Drawn together, she senses Viktor has answers to lifelong questions. Only he shuns her at every turn, knowing he has saved her only to put her in more danger.

As Ana struggles with her attraction to Viktor, he tries everything to bury his unexpected feelings for her. But they must find a middle ground. For only together can they combat the dark forces threatening both their lives . . . and their souls.

GUEST POST
Hindsight
by S.A. Larsen

When asked ‘If you knew then what you know now about writing…’ the first thought that entered my mind was I’d laugh more.

If you want to seriously pursue becoming a published author you will have to hunker down, give up late night television shows, jot moments of inspiration on napkins and ice hockey arena bathroom stall toilet paper (yes, I really did that), and embrace an impenetrable work ethic like never before. BUT there is a difference between being steadfastly devoted and brutally hard on oneself. So—if I knew then what I know now about writing—I’d give myself permission to have off-writing days, to feel overwhelmed, to struggle, to fail, and to step away when a break was needed.

My fourth child was almost five years old when I decided not to return to my work as a dental assistant and enter the creative arena of writing. I’d always loved the act of pen against paper to bring about something new—something living, breathing. (Can you tell I was a master doodler in middle school?) Making up silly tales and quests of some unknown hero to distract my little ones as they tucked into their beds brought me so much joy. I could see the wonder in their eyes, the hope and fight that is life itself. It was such a magical way to teach them life lessons. And I fell in love with story building. Yes, I thought. I can do this. But once I entered the novel-writing trenches and discovered how difficult this business can be, I found this black hole that wouldn’t let me go. You must write another hour. No, you can watch the soccer game, making sure you don’t get hit in the head by a ball, all while plotting your next few chapters.

While there is absolutely nothing wrong with either of those, I’ve come to realize they not only sucked the life out of my here-and-now, but of my writing. Of course, there’s a balance to everything, and sometimes those exercises are valid. My advice – balance your life by living out loud, soaking in every experience, and using those to create richer stories then you thought you were capable of. It’s an amazing adventure.
