[Blog Tour] Shadowsong by S. Jae-Jones

Shadowsong (Wintersong #2)
Publisher: Wednesday Books
Release Date: February 6, 2018
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

Synopsis:

Six months after the end of Wintersong, Liesl is working toward furthering both her brother’s and her own musical careers. Although she is determined to look forward and not behind, life in the world above is not as easy as Liesl had hoped. Her younger brother Josef is cold, distant, and withdrawn, while Liesl can’t forget the austere young man she left beneath the earth, and the music he inspired in her.

When troubling signs arise that the barrier between worlds is crumbling, Liesl must return to the Underground to unravel the mystery of life, death, and the Goblin King—who he was, who he is, and who he will be. What will it take to break the old laws once and for all? What is the true meaning of sacrifice when the fate of the world—or the ones Liesl loves—is in her hands?

Review:

I am at a lost of words for how I feel about Shadowsong. To put it simply, I loved it. I won't be able to forget those last 50 pages. I might be one of the few but I'm glad the goblin king wasn't featured much till the very end. This allowed for Liesl to grow as a person and discover things for herself. This book mainly focuses on Liesel and her brother Josef, and I must say the sibling representation got me emotional. The writing, just like Wintersong, is beautiful and lush, but this book is dark and haunted. I would recommend to read this book within an open mind and try to understand why the center point of the novel shifted to Liesel and Josef.

Overall I would give Shadowsong 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
